NaNoWriMo 2011 (A Winner is Me!)

Word Count Updates

So now I've managed five years in a row with NaNoWriMo. I'm really pleased at getting so much written in such a short space of time, and I'm really pleased with how the story is coming along. I reckon I have another four or five chapters still to write, but I'm hopeful I can have it finished by the end of the year at the latest.

After that, redrafting!

I would have finished sooner but my brother started playing Saints Row the Third right next to me and I got distracted.

Synopsis

The world created by the Three is based on a divine harmony that permeates everything in creation. In this harmony there is a hidden melody that if played at the gates to the heavenly realm will cause them to open and admit the player to the realm. Within that realm stands a fountain flowing with golden water, one who drinks this water will be granted one wish.

The knowledge of this melody has long since been lost and now, thousands of years after the creation of the world, discord is ravaging the divine country of Tria, where the gates to the heavenly realm are said to reside. Its citizens are possessed by a madness, causing them to attack anyone and anything in a blind frenzy. Through this a mysterious cloaked woman possessing an ancient wooden flute walks, seemingly unaffected by the discord and ignored by the raging Traians around about her.

Laynya Macrows, a recluse living in the distant highlands of Tria, finds herself drawn into the situation as the secrets of her origins and her father's pendent catch up with her. She is a Chosen of the Three, her blood mixed with the golden waters of the Divine Fount and inheritor of a sacred sword said to contain the full harmony of the world in its blade. Together with Narin Ankrage, Chief of Queen Velna of Traia's guard, she must bring harmony back to her country and discover just what is causing this discord and the identity of the mysterious golden messenger directing her actions.
